Project Summary:
The objectives of this project are:
- To analyze the types, prevalence, and reasons for contingent and
flexible work among disabled and nondisabled workers;
- To examine the individual and household characteristics of workers
in contingent and flexible work arrangements;
- To examine the pay, hours, occupation, and industry of workers
in contingent and flexible work arrangements;
- To assess the movement in and out of contingent work arrangements,
among people with disabilities, relating them to the business cycle
and receipt of Supplementary Security Income and Social Security
Disability Insurance; and
- To review the experience and outcomes for contingent workers with
disabilities who have filed lawsuits based on the Americans With
Disabilities Act or the Rehabilitation Act. The researchers will
use extracts they
have already created from the CPS and SIPP.
The data will produce estimates and comparisons between workers with
and without disabilities in different types of contingent and flexible
work arrangements, thereby shedding light on the advantages and disadvantages
of contingent and flexible work arrangements. Project Deliverables:
